My party of 2 spent $130 on a 'secret' Disney World breakfast buffet, and it was a great alternative

The Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World is home to a little-known character-dining experience

Ravello, an upscale Italian eatery at the resort, offers a special breakfast buffet called Good Morning Breakfast With Goofy & His Pals from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursdays, Saturdays, and select Tuesdays throughout the year.

I called the restaurant during a recent visit to Orlando and was able to get a reservation for 8 a.m. on a Saturday. Here's what it was like.

Checking in for the reservation was easy.

We didn't have any problems finding Ravello. Megan duBois

After driving from our Disney hotel to the Four Seasons Resort, my mom and I hopped out of the car and had it valeted. There's no self-park at the hotel, even for those who are just going for a meal.

We made our way to the first floor of the hotel and found the restaurant, which was already abuzz with people at the early hour. At the host stand, a kind employee greeted my mom and me and almost immediately walked us to our table.

To ensure that we weren't charged for parking, we also made sure to get our valet ticket stamped by the host when we checked in.

Our table was in a prime location to see characters.

My mom and I were seated along the outer ring of the restaurant, which was a perfect spot to see characters and interact with them as they made their way through the space.

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Goofy all made appearances during our meal.

The restaurant was pretty open and tables weren't on top of one another, which I appreciated as well.

After we were seated, we were given a quick introduction about how the character-dining worked.

Our server was great at explaining how character dining worked at Ravello. None of the characters signed autographs, but we were given a presigned card when we sat down.

We were also told that the characters usually make at least two stops at each table since the restaurant wasn't full yet.

The character-breakfast buffet at Ravello costs $52 for adults and $32 for kids ages 3 to 12.

We were then given a menu with all of the fresh-pressed juices the bar could make for an additional cost.

The buffet comes with basic drinks like coffee and water, but the fresh juices, which are an extra $10 to $14 a piece, looked great.

We passed on the opportunity and just drank extra coffee to wake us up.

The buffet had so many options to choose from that it was hard to know where to start.

As I toured the buffet looking at my options, I was in awe of how many different dishes there were.

There was everything from a waffle-and-pancake bar and made-to-order omelets to a bakery case with fresh pastries and plenty of fresh fruit.

My first round was a more traditional breakfast plate.

I loved the hash browns at Ravello. Megan duBois

I made sure to try a little bit of everything. I had some hash-brown casserole, which reminded me of an upscale version of the one from Cracker Barrel, a Nutella-filled doughnut, bacon, and a carrot-cake loaf.

My mom and I also split a ham, tomato, and cheese omelet. We watched a few being made and they were big, and we knew neither one of us could eat a whole one by ourselves.

I ended up going back to the buffet for more of the carrot-cake loaf and hash-brown casserole because they were so good.

Just before I dove into my plate, Goofy came by to greet us.

One of the best parts about character dining at any restaurant in Disney World is that you get to see multiple characters in one sitting. Goofy came by our table just before I started to dive into my first plate of food.

Goofy had a Disney PhotoPass photographer with him to take professional photos, but Mickey and Minnie Mouse did not. This was the one downside, in my opinion, because I have free PhotoPass downloads with my annual pass, and it would've been nice to get professional photos with all the characters.

About halfway through my breakfast, Mickey Mouse came to our table.

I got to pose with Mickey Mouse in his casual attire. Megan duBois

I love seeing Mickey Mouse, and when I don't have to wait in line at a park that makes it even better.

Mickey was donning his cute resort wear with an orange vest and plaid shorts. He honestly looked like he was getting ready to hit the golf course at the Four Seasons Resort.

Before I could sit down again, Minnie Mouse was ready for photos, too.

Just after Mickey, Minnie Mouse was ready to take photos with us. I loved her sherbet-colored dress and blue bow.

It was nice to get two of the three characters within a few moments of each other so I didn't have to pause my meal three different times. The restaurant was only about half full though, so I'm not sure if this is the usual experience.

We ended up spending $130, and I think Ravello is a great option if you really want to do a character breakfast.

I think the experience at Ravello was just as good as the on-property resorts. Megan duBois

In total, the breakfast buffet for two adults cost us $130 with the tip.

There are plenty of character breakfasts across Disney World's parks and resorts, but this one seems to be lesser known. It was very easier to get a reservation compared to the highly sought-after character breakfasts at Topolino's Terrace at Disney's Riviera Resort or Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

The vast array of breakfast options, along with the ample amount of time with the characters, made for a fun way to start the morning.
