(RTTNews) - Burger King is offering free Whoppers, but only to people who publicly confess to having been recently fired from their jobs.

The "Whopper Severance" deal is available from August 29 through September 1, 2017, to anyone aged 18 or older, who was recently terminated from their job.

"All you have to do is publicly confess on LinkedIn that you've been fired and want a free Whopper using #whopperseverance," according to the Whopper Severance website.

The customers will have to type out their message and allow Burger King to access their LinkedIn page after the message is submitted.

They will then be sent a personalized link in order to register for their full "Whopper Severance package". However, LinkedIn has no role to play in the promotion.

Burger King plans to give away up to 2,500 free Whoppers through the deal. The first 2,500 entrants will receive a gift card amount redeemable in-store towards a Whopper Sandwich from a participating Burger King restaurant in the U.S. The gift cards will be sent to the respondents' mailing address.

The first 100 participants will also receive the opportunity to connect with a consultant from The Muse, a human resources firm, for a complimentary thirty-minute phone or Skype career consultation.
